Adjusting Let-off in a Vertical Piano

Adjusting let-off is the process in the regulation process of adjusting when the hammer is released by the jack as the hammer moves forward.  This is one of the primary steps in the basic regulation process.  The type of regulating screwdriver will vary depending on what type of regulating screws you have in your piano.  There are a number of tools that are useful in performing this step in the regulation process:

 

- 7" Regulating Screwdriver
- Combination Tool Handle
- Grand Drop Screw Regulator (For regulating screws with a smaller head)
- Stainless Steel Rule
- Magnetic Let-off Strip
