description

About this item:

  • SUPER THIN VISCOSITY GLUE: Insta-Cure™ has a water-thin viscosity that soaks into porous surfaces. Surfaces to be bonded must be tight fitting and should be held together while you apply the CA around the edges of the seam.
  • WORKS GOOD ON: Works well on wood and felt.
  • AVAILABLE SIZE: Available in several different sizes: 1/2 oz. bottle, 3/4 oz. pocket bottle with screw on cap, 1 oz. bottle and 2 oz. bottle.
  • APPLICATION DIRECTIONS: Unscrew top from nozzle. For finer applications, use the extender tip. Insta-Cure™ CA is used to bond tight fitting parts. Hold the parts together, then apply the CA glue along the seam. Although the pieces will hold together fairly well within several seconds, it will not reach full strength for several hours. Wipe the nozzle clean before replacing screw-on top.
  • GLUE SAFE STORAGE: Keep in a cool area away from direct sunlight and bottles of accelerators. 24 month shelf life.

Product Descriptions:

CA glue works very well in certain piano repair situations where very thin glue is needed. The most common repair this glue is used for is when you come across a piano that has tuning pins that are too loose to hold tune. You can put a few drops around the base of the tuning pin and because the glue is very thin it will wick down around the tuning pin and swell the wood in the pin block around the tuning pin and then dry very quickly. The tuning pin will be ready to tune within about thirty minutes. Make sure that if you are applying this glue on a grand piano that you remove the action in case the glue drips down through the pin block. If you are using this glue on a vertical piano make sure to tip the piano on its back so the glue does not run down the plate. CA glue also works well for hammerheads that have come loose from the shank. Apply a couple of drops of CA glue to the loose joint and let cure.

Bsi glue

Bsi glue lasts longer in its bottle than Satellite City which I used for years. Howard Piano carries the supplies I use and makes it easy to order.

First trial feels like it has improved but I haven't tuned the piano to my satisfaction so I think it will take some time to fine tune it.

tuning pin experiment

Just tinkering. Since early high school, like many, I have wanted to become a concert pianist AND master piano tech. But as John Lennon said "Life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans". So, 50+ yrs later, and not becoming either by a long shot, I get a baby grand that needs work. Been tinkering for a couple years. Cleaned entire soundboard with Q-tips. Cleaned strings incorrectly. Checked torque on tuning pins, well below 50. Ordered CA glue from Howard Piano. Attempted (and succeeded) to make a mess on mid section and bass. I didn't follow instructional videos as closely as I should have but am very happy with the results and I learned a lot. Between reading Arthur A Reblitz and watching Howard Piano instructional videos I have come a long way in a short time. Everyone involved says the piano is a lot better than it was. It stays (out of) tune better now! Everything I have ordered from Howard is good quality and fair price and the videos are great.
